Ash Wednesday

The church will be open for prayer from 9am to 3pm; and 6pm to 9pm.
I hope you will use this opportunity to pop into church at some stage during the day,
even if it is just for 5 minutes, to light a candle
and make a commitment to Lent and the Lenten course.
There will be Eucharist’s at 10am and 8pm, and a children’s Eucharist at 6.30pm.
Each of these services will include the Anointing of Ash for those who wish to receive it.

Ash Wednesday Reflection
Repenting

1 Corinthians 1:27
God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise,
and God chose the weak to challenge the strong.
God chose the lowly, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.

“God is always using people’s mistakes in their favour, to transform them.
Weakness becomes the means of God’s grace.
God is the perfect recycler and, in the economy of grace, nothing is wasted.”
– Richard Rohr

Instead of denying our sin, or beating ourselves up about it,
let’s simply allow God to use it to draw us closer to him
and open our hearts to others.

The Ash Wednesday sermon will follow later……..
